Autumn Layering Guide

Autumn Layering Guide

How to build a simple three-layer system with pieces you can shop at Gannon Taneja. No special “system” branding required—just pieces that work together.

The three layers

  1. Base: A breathable tee or light long-sleeve next to skin to manage moisture.
  2. Mid: Fleece or knitwear for insulation. This is the layer you add or remove as temperature changes.
  3. Shell: A waterproof or windproof jacket when rain or wind picks up.

Autumn tips for US conditions

  • Cool dry mornings: tee + fleece may be enough until midday.
  • Wet forecasts: keep a waterproof shell in your bag even if you start in a fleece only.
  • Windy ridgelines: a windproof shell over fleece holds warmth better than fleece alone.

Choosing a mid-layer

Grid or midweight fleece balances warmth and breathability for hiking. Heavier fleece or knit look styles suit travel days and camp. Check the product page for fabric notes and care.
